Gamehost Announces Reopening of Rivers Casino & Entertainment Centre
Gamehost Inc. has reopened its Rivers Casino in Fort McMurray. The facility had been closed for two days due to a mandatory evacuation notice. This was prompted by a nearby wildfire threatening residential areas east of downtown. To support employees affected by the evacuation, Rivers Casino closed voluntarily on May 15, 2024.
The evacuation notice was lifted on May 17, 2024. Although the fire is still active, significant rainfall and cooler temperatures have helped contain it. Alberta Wildfire has downgraded the fire's status to "being held".
Gamehost Inc. operates various facilities in Alberta, including the Rivers Casino & Entertainment Centre in Fort McMurray, the Great Northern Casino, Service Plus Inns & Suites, and Encore Suites hotels in Grande Prairie, as well as the Deerfoot Inn & Casino in Calgary.
