GEA to Build World's Largest Dairy Facility in Algeria
GEA Group has been commissioned to construct the world's largest integrated dairy facility in Algeria. This project, a collaboration between Baladna, the Algerian Government, and GEA, aims to boost Algeria's dairy production capabilities and enhance food security. The plant will be located in Adrar province and is expected to produce up to 100,000 tons of milk powder annually. The facility aims to fulfill half of Algeria's national milk powder demand and will create approximately 5,000 local jobs.
Spanning between 140 and 170 million Euros, this order is one of the largest in GEA's history. The project will leverage GEA's comprehensive dairy farming and processing technologies. Construction will begin in early 2026, with milk powder production slated to start by late 2027.
GEA's divisions, Liquid & Powder Technologies and Farm Technologies, will play significant roles. The agreement represents a crucial milestone in Algeria's pursuit of self-sufficiency in dairy products. High-profile dignitaries attended the signing ceremony in Algiers, underscoring the project's importance.
