Georgia-Pacific launches new plant in Jackson, Tennessee, boosting employment and production

Georgia-Pacific recently marked a significant milestone in the development of its new facility in Jackson, Tennessee, with collaborative training between teams in Jackson and Bowling Green, Kentucky. More than 40 employees participated, emphasizing innovation and efficient use of equipment. This initiative prepares for the launch of the Jackson plant, scheduled for summer 2024.

Construction of the plant, an investment of more than $425 million, began in September 2022, representing the largest single investment in the city's history. Occupying 900,000 square feet on 241 acres, the climate-controlled facility will produce disposable tableware, meeting the growing demand for high-quality products.

Fernando Gonzalez, president of the consumer division at Georgia-Pacific, emphasizes that this new factory, the first since 1991, will significantly increase the supply of products on the market. The site will create more than 220 jobs by 2025, contributing significantly to the local economy.

Tennessee Governor Bill Lee praised Georgia-Pacific's commitment to the state, highlighting the positive impact on regional employment and the business climate. This project strengthens Georgia-Pacific's presence in Tennessee, where the company already has six facilities and directly employs approximately 460 people.
