German Institute Confirms the Performance of Recycled Graphite by EcoGraf
The Helmholtz Institute in Germany recently confirmed the excellent performance of recycled graphite, a process made possible by EcoGraf Limited's proprietary HFfree™ technology. This research program, funded by the German government, compared recycled EcoGraf HFfree™ graphite to commercial battery graphite products. The recovery and purification of graphite from end-of-life lithium-ion batteries has shown that recycled graphite maintains remarkable reversible specific capacity and excellent cyclic stability.
This discovery paves the way for sustainable solutions for lithium-ion batteries, with EcoGraf planning to combine this recycled graphite with high-quality graphite from Tanzania for the manufacture of anodes. The stable performance of recycled graphite, with 80% capacity retention after 1000 cycles, illustrates the effectiveness of the HFfree™ purification process and positions EcoGraf as a key player in anode recycling and waste reduction in the industry batteries.
The company's commitment to the circular economy is also reinforced by its recently announced collaboration with BASF on anode recycling. With the commissioning of the world's first HF-free battery anode material qualification facility in Western Australia, EcoGraf is preparing to meet the growing demand for sustainable, low CO2 battery solutions.
