Gerresheimer's CO2e Reduction Targets Approved by SBTi

Gerresheimer AG, a key player in the pharma, biotech, and cosmetic industries, has had its climate targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). This validation confirms that their CO2e reduction goals are in alignment with the Paris Agreement to limit global warming to 1.5°C. Gerresheimer intends to decrease Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 52% by 2030, and reduce the intensity of selected Scope 3 emissions by 64% by 2034.

The targets span the entire value chain. Scope 1 includes emissions from Gerresheimer’s operations, Scope 2 covers indirect emissions from energy use, and Scope 3 includes emissions from activities like transportation and product disposal. Gerresheimer also aims for 65% of their suppliers to adopt science-based CO2e targets by 2029.

SBTi provides a framework to ensure climate targets align with scientific research. This commitment highlights Gerresheimer's dedication to transparent sustainability reporting and climate management.
