GEC Education Mega Centre in Surrey Secures Development Approval

Global Education Communities Corp. (GECC) has announced the approval of its joint venture project, the GEC Education Mega Centre® in Surrey, BC. Granted during the City Council meeting on June 23, 2025, this approval comes after rezoning confirmation and now awaits final document finalization.

The Education Mega Centre is located strategically in Surrey's educational hub, providing proximity to major institutions like Simon Fraser University and Kwantlen Polytechnic University. The project's blueprint includes a 49-storey tower with retail, commercial, and residential spaces, aiming to accommodate up to 1,380 students and staff.

The rental units, aligned with GEC®'s operational model, will be fully furnished and offer access to diverse amenities, addressing the vital housing need within the region. This initiative emerges as a unique solution, especially since none of Surrey's 14 post-secondary institutions currently offer staff or student housing.
