Global Education Communities Corp. Provides Update on GEC Viva Renovations

Global Education Communities Corp. (GECC) has announced significant progress in the renovation of GEC Viva, its first student residence in downtown Vancouver. The 17-storey building, which has housed nearly 10,000 students since its opening in 2015, is undergoing a comprehensive renovation.

Work commenced early this year and includes new furniture, fixtures, appliances, flooring, wall paint, kitchen counters, and air-conditioning equipment from the 2nd to 17th floor. The updates were tailored based on student feedback to enhance comfort and functionality. Two floors have already been renovated and occupied, with more units becoming available throughout the summer.

The renovation project, which exceeds a budget of $7 million, aims to complete by summer, transitioning GEC Viva from Generation 1 to Generation 5 operations. Photos of the renovated units are available online. GECC remains committed to offering high-quality living environments for its students.
