Hapag-Lloyd Reports Strong Start in 2025 Amid Volatile Market
Hapag-Lloyd AG announced a robust performance for the first quarter of 2025, with a Group EBITDA of USD 1.1 billion, marking an 18% rise compared to the previous year. The shipping company's EBIT rose to USD 487 million, showing a 25% increase, while Group profit surged by 45% to USD 469 million.
Driving this growth, the Liner Shipping segment achieved revenues of USD 5.2 billion, fueled by a 9% rise in transport volume to 3.3 million TEU and an increased average freight rate of USD 1,480 per TEU. However, the challenging market conditions persist.
Hapag-Lloyd remains focused on its Strategy 2030 and aims for additional cost savings exceeding USD 1 billion in the coming months. The company maintains its forecast for 2025, though emphasizes uncertainty due to geopolitical factors.
The Terminal & Infrastructure segment added strategic value through a new majority stake in the CNMP LH Terminal in Le Havre, aiding market positioning in France.
