Eli Lilly has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Curevo Vaccine, a company in HBM Healthcare Investments' portfolio, for up to USD 1.5 billion. The acquisition includes an upfront payment and a milestone-based additional payment for Curevo's shareholders. HBM Healthcare participated in Curevo's Series B financing with USD 13.3 million, holding 4.8% of the company. This transaction enhances HBM's net asset value per share by approximately CHF 4.00, reflecting a 1.4% increase.
Curevo, based near Seattle, specializes in biotechnology, focusing on vaccine development to combat infectious diseases. Its main product, amezosvatein, aims to prevent shingles, a condition that causes not only skin rash but also severe nerve pain in some cases.
