H2APEX and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners Partner on Hydrogen Project in Lubmin

H2APEX Group and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) have announced a strategic collaboration to develop a hydrogen production facility in Lubmin, Germany. CIP, through its Energy Transition Fund, has acquired a 70% stake in the project, aiming to expand hydrogen capacity. The project targets an annual production of up to 10,000 tons of hydrogen in its first phase, to be integrated into the Flow pipeline.

CIP's involvement brings an investment of EUR 15 million ahead of a final investment decision. The overall project volume is expected to reach several hundred million euros, with construction slated for completion by 2028. H2APEX has already secured key assets at the Lubmin site, including access to offshore wind farms and a future hydrogen network, reinforcing the project's strategic positioning within the EU.

CEO of H2APEX, Peter Rößner, describes the partnership as crucial for local hydrogen production, while CIP's Felix Pahl highlights the potential for green hydrogen to contribute to Germany's hydrogen economy. The partnership plans to order components and continue approvals for subsequent phases, targeting over 1,000 MW capacity in the long term.
