Helrom Opens Brenner Route for Sustainable Freight Transport
Helrom GmbH has launched a new freight connection between Regensburg and Verona via the Brenner Pass, expanding its route network. This initiative offers a sustainable alternative for transalpine freight, responding to the heavy traffic demands on the Brenner route. The connection aims to reduce CO₂ emissions by 90% from October 24.
The route, spanning 560 km, is pivotal for Helrom's expansion into a major European transport axis. Currently, it provides four weekly departures in each direction, with plans to increase frequency by 2025. This service offers an efficient alternative to road transport, even accommodating non-craneable trailers and time-sensitive goods.
The new connection, utilizing terminal-free technology, allows easy rail transport of all truck semi-trailers, minimizing investment for freight forwarders. This approach broadens access to sustainable transport, addressing growing logistical challenges and infrastructure constraints on the Brenner route.
