Malou Oheix Triumphs at 2026 Herbie Hancock International Jazz Competition
Malou Oheix, a 27-year-old jazz vocalist from France, has claimed the first place at the 2026 Herbie Hancock Institute International Jazz Vocals Competition. Hosted for the first time outside the United States, the competition was held at the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris. Oheix captivated the jury with her dual performances, earning her a $50,000 scholarship presented by Jean-Paul Claverie.
The event honored jazz legend Arturo Sandoval with the Maria Fisher Founder's Award. Hosted by Jeremy Irons, it transformed the Fondation Louis Vuitton into a celebration of jazz, featuring performances by renowned artists under the musical direction of John Beasley. Gustavo Dudamel led a tribute to architect Frank Gehry, adding a cultural distinction to the evening.
The competition finale garnered international attention, broadcast via FLV Play, medici.tv, and YouTube. United Airlines supported the event by providing transportation for competitors and artists.
