Hope for Haiti and Niantic 8th Wall Partner to Leverage AR Technology for Social Good
LONG BEACH, CA / ACCESSWIRE / June 19, 2024 / Hope for Haiti has announced a partnership with Niantic 8th Wall. This collaboration merges augmented reality (AR) technology with philanthropy to support critical humanitarian work in Haiti. Niantic's commitment to social good aligns with Hope for Haiti's mission to tackle real-world challenges through innovation.
"Niantic's technology encourages people to explore the world together. Our work with Hope for Haiti shows how we can advance philanthropy and community impact," stated Yennie Solheim, Niantic's Director of Social Impact. A developer challenge issued by Niantic invited the community to create WebAR experiences on 8th Wall, offering $15,000 in prizes.
Niantic will match donations made via these AR experiences, aiming to raise $10,000 during the Augmented World Expo (AWE). Attendees can visit Hope for Haiti's booth for demos and a raffle prize chance. "By using AR, we can engage with new audiences and connect them to Haiti," said Sarah Porter, Hope for Haiti's Director of Innovative Philanthropy.
