HSE updates Lab 21 prosecution
Molecular diagnostics specialist Novacyt SA provides an update on the legal proceedings brought against its subsidiary Lab 21 by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). On 18 March 2025, at Exeter Magistrates' Court, Lab 21 pleaded guilty to health and safety offences related to the operation of a site in Axminster between June 2018 and April 2019.
The company is cooperating fully with the HSE during the investigation. Lab 21's business, which is no longer part of Novacyt's current operations, stemmed from an acquisition in June 2018. Sentencing will be announced on 11 September 2025. A further statement will be issued after this date.
