Inauguration of a New Metal Recycling Line by Derichebourg

Derichebourg Environnement inaugurated a new metal recycling line in Saint-Pierre-de-Chandieu on March 18. The facility replaces 35-year-old equipment with a 6,000-hp shredder incorporating advanced emission reduction techniques. This €45 million project is part of a cleaner recycling approach aimed at producing raw materials for European steel mills and reducing the carbon footprint of steel production.

The site also includes a WEEE recycling line, offering employment opportunities in partnership with the ENVIE Federation. It also contributes to the production of recovered fuels, supporting industrial decarbonization. Abderrahmane AL AOUFIR, Managing Director, emphasizes the importance of this investment in a circular economy and its relevance to European actions for the steel industry.
