IONOS Group SE Reports Strong Performance in 2023 Financial Year

IONOS Group SE has experienced significant growth during the 2023 financial year, showing a notable increase in both sales and earnings, and an expansion of its customer base by approximately 190,000, reaching a total of 6.19 million customers.

The company's sales witnessed a 10.1% rise from €1.292 billion in 2022 to €1.423 billion in 2023, while the adjusted EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization) increased by 12.9% to €390.3 million. This growth occurred despite high marketing expenses aimed at boosting brand awareness. The adjusted EBITDA margin improved to 27.4% in 2023 from 26.7% the preceding year.

IONOS attributes its successful year to solid new customer business, effective cross-selling and upselling strategies to existing clients, and an expansion in the aftermarket business. The company also emphasized its role as a leader in digitalization and cloud services in Europe.

Innovation played a key role in 2023, with advancements primarily in artificial intelligence, including the launch of an AI-based website builder, a newsletter tool with AI capabilities, and an AI-enhanced domain search. Additionally, IONOS introduced generative AI applications on its cloud platform and incorporated AI in customer service to improve client satisfaction.

Looking ahead, IONOS has provided guidance for the 2024 and 2025 financial years, forecasting continued robust growth and an increase in the adjusted EBITDA margin, reinforcing its optimistic outlook for the future.
