Jaguar Health Presents Promising Crofelemer Results at ESPGHAN 2026
Jaguar Health's recent presentation at the ESPGHAN 2026 meeting in Lille showcased the significant potential of crofelemer as an adjunctive oral therapy for pediatric intestinal failure. The study revealed remarkable reductions in parenteral support for patients suffering from microvillus inclusion disease (MVID) and short bowel syndrome (SBS).
Results demonstrated up to a 48% reduction in parenteral support, normalized to body weight, for an MVID patient after over a year on high-dose liquid crofelemer. In two SBS patients, similar reductions reached 40%. Importantly, these outcomes were achieved without significant clinical or laboratory abnormalities.
Crofelemer, derived from Croton lechleri tree sap, offers a promising therapeutic option for these rare intestinal conditions. Jaguar continues its global development efforts, aiming to secure Breakthrough Therapy Designation and file for an NDA with the FDA by mid-2027.
