Kentucky Counseling Center Expands Reach by Acquiring Flourish Psychotherapy and Launching Counseling Now

On April 1, 2024, Kentucky Counseling Center (KCC), recognized as a leading mental health service provider in Kentucky, officially announced its acquisition of Flourish Psychotherapy, a notable mental health entity operating out of Ohio. Post-acquisition, the Ohio-based company will undergo rebranding to become Counseling Now. This significant change reflects KCC's broader service scope and its expansion into new locations within Ohio, including Cincinnati and Columbus.

Founded by Matt Grammer, LPCC-S, Counseling Now aims to extend mental health services to Medicaid beneficiaries and introduce psychiatry into its offerings. This strategic decision is intended to improve care quality and accessibility for Ohio residents. Counseling Now plans to accept an array of payment options, including Medicare, Medicaid, and most major insurance plans.

Brittany Mellick, President of KCC, expressed enthusiasm for the acquisition, highlighting its role in advancing the mission of delivering top-notch mental health care across the region. This merger is expected to leverage the combined expertise and resources of both entities to enhance community service.

With this acquisition, Kentucky Counseling Center reaffirms its position as an industry leader, adding Flourish Psychotherapy to its portfolio and expanding its operational footprint to five locations across Kentucky and Ohio. This growth brings together a professional network of 170 providers and over 200 team members.

Both Grammer and Laurie Sharp-Page, the former owner of Flourish Psychotherapy, have expressed optimism about the partnership's potential to elevate mental health care standards, highlighting the benefits for clinicians and clients alike, such as free continuing education and improved employment options for clinicians, and expanded insurance coverage, including psychiatry services for clients.
