Kontron AG Accelerates E-Mobility with Major Order for Intelligent Wallboxes

Kontron AG, a leader in IoT technology, announced the commencement of production for a significant new order of intelligent charging systems for electric vehicles. The system's first customer is a prominent German automobile manufacturer. These smart wallboxes are tailored for the European and Chinese markets.

The contract includes the development and delivery of a new generation of intelligent, fully networked charging systems. Production will start in Q3 2024, and the order is valued at 120 million euros running until 2028. This project follows another major order in May 2024 worth at least 200 million euros.

Kontron leverages the expertise of its subsidiary eSystems, acquired during the KATEK takeover, to develop the advanced charging solutions. The wallboxes, based on the ghostONE platform, feature extensive connectivity and integration capabilities, including support for renewable energy and dynamic tariffs.

This new order underscores eSystems' long-term collaboration with the automobile manufacturer and reinforces Kontron's growth in the smart charging segment. The fully networked wallbox is equipped to meet high data security standards and facilitates cost-efficient, next-level smart charging solutions.
