Leclanché receives a grant to boost sustainable battery production

Leclanché SA has signed an agreement with CINEA to secure a grant of €74.2 million. This grant aims to facilitate the sustainable production of batteries in Europe. The agreement will support Leclanché's project, which was selected from among 14 proposals. The project involves expanding battery production capacity at the Willstätt site in Germany to 2 GWh.

The €852 million funding for this project will help reduce dependence on imported technologies. Leclanché is focused on securing additional financing to ensure its continued development. The grant is conditional upon securing an additional €141.3 million in funding before June 2026.
