Lenzing AG Unveils Combined Annual and Sustainability Report for 2023

Lenzing AG, a global leader in producing regenerated cellulosic fibers, announced the release of its first combined annual and sustainability report on March 15, 2024. This initiative underscores the significant role of sustainability within the company’s operations and goals. The report titled “Ready to join?” invites stakeholders to collaborate towards transforming the textile and nonwovens industries into more sustainable sectors.

The document highlights Lenzing’s commitment to environmental and social responsibility, showcasing measurable progress in achieving its ambitious sustainability and climate targets. The company has notably reduced its absolute greenhouse gas emissions by 19% and specific sulfur emissions to air by 58%, setting a scientific path towards a net-zero target in alignment with the Paris Agreement.

Lenzing’s efforts extend beyond emissions reduction. The company is actively working towards a circular economy model, promoting recycling innovations and expanding its REFIBRA™ technology to incorporate up to 20% post-consumer textile waste in its new viscose fibers. These steps are part of Lenzing’s “Better Growth” strategy aiming to tackle the global textile waste problem.

Recognition by leading rating agencies such as CDP, EcoVadis, and MSCI further consolidate Lenzing’s status as a sustainability champion. The company also embraces the European Green Deal, aligning its operations with future EU regulations and standards to mitigate supply chain risks and support climate protection measures.
