Lenzing Group Commends Young Scientists with Award at Global Fiber Congress

Lenzing AG, a prominent producer of regenerated cellulose fibers, announced its ongoing commitment to fostering innovation in the textile and nonwovens industries by presenting the Lenzing Young Scientist Award. This accolade recognizes outstanding research by bachelor's and master's students offering solutions to ecological challenges in the fiber sector. Scheduled from September 11 to 13, 2024, during the Global Fiber Congress (GFC) in Dornbirn, the award invites entries in various categories including Fashion and Circular Economy, Alternative Raw Materials, Textile Recycling, and New Fiber Technologies.

The prize aims to encourage forward-thinking projects that may benefit the industry, alongside providing a noteworthy opportunity for academia-industry networking. Prize winnings for the top project stand at EUR 5,000, with submissions due by June 30, 2024. Gert Kroner, Vice President of Global Research at Lenzing, emphasized the company's leadership in sustainable fiber innovations and commitment to supporting pioneering ideas that tackle present-day ecological issues. This initiative underscores Lenzing's broader mission to spearhead eco-friendly practices within the industry.

This edition, organized by the Austrian Fiber Institute, marks the 63rd year of fostering dialogue and sharing advancements within the fiber industry at the Dornbirn GFC. The event is well-regarded for its international exchange and contributions to sustainable practices, consistent with broader industry trends towards a circular economy.
