LifeWorks Announces New CEO Liz Schoenfeld, Ph.D.
After an extensive national search, LifeWorks appointed Liz Schoenfeld, Ph.D., as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective July 1, 2024. She will succeed Susan McDowell, who steps down after nearly three decades of service.
Under McDowell's leadership, LifeWorks has served over 100,000 clients, becoming a national example for addressing youth homelessness. Her tenure strengthened LifeWorks' programs in housing, counseling, and education.
Schoenfeld, with over a decade at LifeWorks, previously served as Chief Research & Evaluation Officer. She contributed significantly to strategic planning, donor relations, and program evaluation.
Schoenfeld expressed her honor in building on McDowell's legacy and her excitement to further the organization’s mission. Board Chair Kyle Ali emphasized her deep knowledge and strategic relationships as key assets for achieving LifeWorks’ vision.
LifeWorks plans to expand with 120 new housing units at The Works III apartments in East Austin, reinforcing their commitment to stable housing for youth.
