Launch of 3D Virtual Tour for Lord Ashcroft VC and GC Gallery
On November 11, 2025, a new 3D virtual tour of the Lord Ashcroft VC & GC Gallery was launched. The opening coincides with Armistice Day and follows the closure of the physical gallery at London's Imperial War Museum (IWM) on September 30. This decision faced criticism due to the historical significance of the collections.
Lord Ashcroft, who owns the largest collection of Victoria Crosses worldwide, expressed disappointment over the closure. However, he sees the virtual tour as a meaningful alternative that preserves the legacy of the gallantry awards, highlighting tales of courage across significant military conflicts.
The virtual tour is available on a new website, LordAshcroftMedalCollection.com, which will eventually offer detailed information about various medal collections. Ashcroft is also exploring opportunities to re-exhibit his collections publicly.
