M-KOPA Branded Smartphones Surpass 1 Million Sales in First Year

M-KOPA, a prominent fintech operating in emerging markets, has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing 1 million sales of its branded smartphones within just a year. The company's smartphones aim to foster financial inclusion across Africa by offering devices equipped with its Smart Money Platform, which includes health insurance, affordable credit, and device protection.

Manufacturing takes place at M-KOPA's Nairobi assembly plant, now the largest smartphone factory in Africa. Since its establishment in 2023, the factory has produced over 400 jobs and gained ISO 9001 quality certification in 2024.

Starting with the flagship X20 model, M-KOPA has broadened its product line to include the X2, M10, and S34, with more launches expected later in 2025. Sales occur exclusively through M-KOPA's agents in Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, Ghana, and South Africa. CEO Jesse Moore remarks this success embodies the brand's trusted reputation and transformative impact.
