Medicure Expands Pharmacy Business with Gateway Medical Pharmacy Acquisition
Medicure Inc., focused on pharmaceuticals for the U.S. market, announced its acquisition of Gateway Medical Pharmacy Inc. through its subsidiary, Medicure Pharma Inc. The agreement was signed on February 14, 2025. Gateway, located in Portland, Oregon, generated unaudited revenue of $3.1 million and a net income of $271,000 for the year ending December 31, 2024.
The acquisition supports Medicure’s strategy to expand its direct-to-consumer pharmacy business. Gateway's team will enhance Medicure’s service offerings and growth efforts for ZYPITAMAG® and other products. No financing or debt is required for the acquisition, and the transaction is subject to customary conditions.
Gateway Medical Pharmacy is positioned near healthcare facilities in Portland, providing services to long-term care facilities and non-sterile compounding. All financial figures are expressed in Canadian dollars unless otherwise specified.
