Modular Construction Researcher Named Industrial Research Chair at UWindsor Thanks to $1 Million Commitment From Zekelman Industries

Windsor, ON / ACCESSWIRE / June 11, 2024 / Z Modular, a division of Zekelman Industries, has committed more than $1 million to support research and development at the University of Windsor. This investment aims to advance innovative materials, designs, and support systems for modular housing construction.

Dr. Sreekanta Das, a civil engineering professor and Associate Dean of Research and Graduate Studies in the Faculty of Engineering at UWindsor, has been appointed the Industrial Research Chair of the Zekelman Centre of Modular Innovation and Sustainable Construction. Dr. Das will focus on addressing key challenges in the modular housing industry.

Barry Zekelman, Executive Chairman and CEO, emphasized the significance of this investment for advancing housing construction methods, design, and cost control. The partnership with the University of Windsor will support continuous research in modular construction technology.

Dr. Das highlighted the partnership's importance in enhancing research and fostering industry ties, noting the potential for delivering innovative solutions to regional and national housing challenges.
