MPC Capital Doubles Stake in MPC Container Ships
In a strategic move to consolidate its position in the maritime sector, Hamburg-based MPC Münchmeyer Petersen Capital AG announced an increase in its shareholding in the Oslo-listed MPC Container Ships ASA. This strategic expansion doubles MPC Capital's stake from approximately 7% to around 14%, emphasizing an investment valued at roughly EUR 34 million. The purchase price per MPCC share was corrected to NOK 13.64 (USD 1.31), addressing an earlier miscommunication.
MPC Container Ships stands as a leading entity in the container shipping industry, boasting a fleet of 62 vessels and having posted operating revenues of USD 711 million in 2023 with an EPS of USD 0.73. The investment move aligns with MPC Capital's optimistic forecast for the financial year 2024, where earnings before taxes are expected to rise above the 2023 mark of EUR 19.3 million. This prediction holds despite previous assumptions of maintaining the high earnings level achieved in the preceding year. The decision exhibits confidence in continuous robust returns and further cements MPC Capital's vested interest in the container shipping segment's growth potential.
