Namibia Critical Metals Announces Positive PFS for Lofdal Project
Namibia Critical Metals Inc. has unveiled the results of its Pre-Feasibility Study for the Lofdal Heavy Rare Earths Project in Namibia, revealing its potential as a significant source of dysprosium, terbium, and yttrium. The study outlines two scenarios: a Base Case and a Divergent Case, portraying varying geopolitical and economic conditions affecting global rare earth markets.
The joint venture with Japan Organization for Metals and Energy Security aims to secure a sustainable supply of heavy rare earths for Japan. Key metrics from the PFS show a Base Case NPV after-tax of $275.5 million and an IRR of 19%, while the Divergent Case presents an after-tax NPV of $747.9 million and IRR of 34.8%.
The Lofdal Project supports a 13-year mine life, with proven and probable reserves estimated at 32 million tonnes. Average annual production includes 1,478 tonnes of TREO, highlighting its strategic value amid rising global demand for critical materials.
