Nebius to Triple Finnish Data Center Capacity to 75 MW
On October 8, 2024, Nebius (NASDAQ:NBIS) announced plans to triple the capacity of its data center in Mäntsälä, Finland. This move aims to accommodate up to 60,000 GPUs, potentially generating over USD 1 billion annually at full capacity.
The expansion in Finland aligns with Nebius's broader strategy to invest over USD 1 billion in AI infrastructure across Europe by mid-2025. Part of this investment includes developing data centers on greenfield sites and existing colocation facilities.
The Mäntsälä location is a benchmark for sustainability, implementing advanced cooling and heat recovery systems. It boasts a power usage effectiveness as low as 1.1 and recycles server heat for local residential heating, which currently heats 2,500 Finnish homes.
Nebius's ongoing efforts reinforce its position as a significant provider of AI infrastructure, especially with the impending deployment of NVIDIA's advanced GPU platforms.
