Neoen has signed a 4-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with SmartestEnergy for 50% of the output from its 440 MWp Culcairn Solar Farm in New South Wales, Australia. The agreement will commence in late 2026, enabling SmartestEnergy to meet the growing demand for renewable energy solutions from businesses in the region.

Culcairn Solar Farm, currently under construction, is set to be operational by 2026. It will be Neoen’s second largest solar asset and will generate enough energy to power 160,000 homes. The project is expected to create 7 permanent jobs and has a significant community benefit-sharing program amounting to AUD 10 million over its lifetime.

In addition to the PPA, Culcairn Solar Farm has a Long-Term Energy Services Agreement through the Australian Energy Market Operator’s services. This provides an option to sell electricity at a fixed minimum price, offering stability in the market.

Neoen’s CEO, Jean-Christophe Cheylus, expressed his satisfaction with the agreement. He sees the project playing a crucial role in NSW’s energy transition. Robert Owens, SmartestEnergy Australia’s CEO, emphasized the importance of the partnership in supporting the renewable transition in Australia.

Overall, this agreement strengthens Neoen’s position in the renewable energy market and advances Australia’s shift towards sustainable energy solutions.
