OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation Collaborates with WHO on Vision Care
The OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation has partnered with the World Health Organization (WHO) to support the WHO SPECS 2030 initiative, aiming to improve vision care globally. This partnership focuses on enhancing refractive error coverage by 40% by 2030, as agreed upon by WHO Member States in 2021.
The Foundation and WHO will work together on knowledge sharing, providing technical input, and offering data to enhance vision care, especially in low-resource areas. By combining efforts, they hope to make sustainable vision care accessible to millions and improve health outcomes and social inclusion.
The collaboration’s focus includes five key pillars: improving refractive services access, building eye care professional capacity, promoting eye health awareness, reducing costs, and strengthening data research. The Foundation has already made progress, providing 961 million people access to vision care and supplying 84 million eyeglasses.
