OpenADR Alliance Announces Evolving Membership as Demand for Electric Vehicles Grows

The OpenADR Alliance has announced reaching 200 members, driven by the rising demand for electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. The Alliance, comprising software providers, device manufacturers, and EV service companies, has recently included firms with innovative EV business models, such as payment systems.

The milestone comes as managed EV charging platforms and systems emerge as the fastest growing segment. Industry forecasts predict global EV sales will hit 16.2% of all vehicle sales in 2024, driving exponential growth in demand for EV charging and energy management platforms.

New members include EVchron, Hypercharge, Orange Charger, PayEnergy, and Wevo Energy. This growth is bolstered by European firms, like Codibly, Cuculus, and E.ON Energy, adopting open standards to support utility-led programs.

The Alliance's recent achievements include the launch of OpenADR 3.0, collaborations with Duke Energy and Ford on vehicle-to-grid projects, and the adoption of EcoPort® for demand response programs. In Europe, the Alliance is strengthening ties with standards bodies and government organizations.

The OpenADR Alliance continues to expand its presence at industry events worldwide.
