Ostrom Climate Solutions Announces Cooperation Agreement with Klima 1.5 in the Philippines

VANCOUVER, BC / ACCESSWIRE / June 24, 2024 - Ostrom Climate Solutions Inc. ("Ostrom Climate"), a global carbon project developer, has signed a Cooperation Agreement with Klima 1.5 Corp ("Klima"), a carbon management company in the Philippines. This partnership aims to develop nature-based solutions (NBS) carbon projects focused on afforestation, reforestation, and revegetation (ARR) in Mindanao.

The agreement involves producing a conceptual plan and feasibility study for the carbon projects. Ostrom Climate will leverage its technical expertise while Klima will manage local stakeholder engagement and provide regulatory support. These initiatives target active logging sites, aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and support local communities.

Mindanao, with its extensive forest cover and diverse ecosystems, offers significant NBS opportunities. This collaboration is expected to enhance the livelihoods and resilience of local communities, and serve as a model for similar projects across the Philippines.

In addition to the new cooperation, Ostrom Climate is expanding its established presence in the Philippines through the Upper Pampanga River Climate-Smart Agriculture Rice Project (UPRIIS). This project aims to transform rice cultivation across 100,000 hectares in Central Luzon, reducing methane emissions by up to 48% per hectare.
