ParTec AG Files Patent Infringement Lawsuit Against NVIDIA in Munich
ParTec AG and its licensing partner, BF exaQC AG, have initiated a patent infringement lawsuit against NVIDIA at the Unified Patent Court in Munich. The lawsuit revolves around the alleged infringement of ParTec's intellectual property in the field of AI-supercomputers, specifically involving the Dynamic Modular System Architecture (dMSA) related to CPUs and GPUs arrangement. The lawsuit seeks to ban NVIDIA from distributing key DGX products in 18 European nations, while also demanding disclosure of past sales and financial reparations.
Discussions between ParTec and NVIDIA for a potential collaboration started in 2019 but did not result in a joint development. Despite this, both companies have worked together on numerous supercomputer projects using NVIDIA’s GPUs. The current dispute follows a similar lawsuit from ParTec against Microsoft in Texas, concerning the same patents now contested in Munich.
ParTec CEO, Bernhard Frohwitter, highlighted the impact on European high-tech standing due to reliance on U.S. technology, emphasizing the significance of protecting ParTec's patented innovations.
