PFISTERER Expands in Japan with Nippon Katan Partnership
Pfisterer Holding SE, based in Winterbach, Germany, is enhancing its global footprint through a new partnership with Japanese supplier Nippon Katan Co., Ltd. This collaboration focuses on manufacturing and distributing composite insulators for Japan's overhead power lines. A cooperation and licensing agreement has been signed, allowing for the delivery of Pfisterer composite insulators to Nippon Katan’s Hirakata plant for final assembly. Production is set to commence in early 2025. This move reflects Pfisterer’s commitment to establishing a more efficient production process.
The process previously involved shipping fittings from Asia to Germany and back, creating logistical challenges. This localization within Japan will streamline production, cutting both manufacture and delivery times. Moreover, it will also reduce the carbon footprint. Thomas Bachmann, Vice President of Business Development at PFISTERER, highlights the benefits of quicker market entry and anticipated sales growth in Japan. The cooperation is projected to double Japan's current insulator volume by 2030.
The initiative promises reliability as it merges over a century of expertise from both companies. Pfisterer aims to leverage Nippon Katan’s reputation and market presence to boost its entry. The modular production method supports high flexibility and adherence to strict Japanese industry standards. This collaboration underscores Pfisterer's strategy to meet global energy demands with advanced technical solutions.
