Project Venture Awarded $2 Million by Yield Giving to Support Indigenous Youth
The National Indian Youth Leadership Development Project's initiative, Project Venture, has been honored with a $2 million award from MacKenzie Scott's Yield Giving. Announced on March 20, 2024, this funding is part of the Yield Giving Open Call targeting organizations aiding communities in urgent need across the United States.
Project Venture is known for its innovative approach towards Indigenous youth development, combining experiential learning, adventure-based activities, and service-learning underpinned by traditional cultural practices. This program, guided by the wisdom of Indigenous elders, has made significant strides in empowering Native and Indigenous youth across 25 states, Canada, and Jamaica.
The Yield Giving Open Call, initiated in March 2023, sought to support community-focused entities striving for substantial improvements in individual and family well-being. This considerable recognition and financial contribution by Yield Giving will empower Project Venture to amplify its impact and foster positive development among Indigenous youth.
Leaders from Project Venture and its parent organization have expressed profound gratitude for the grant, emphasizing its crucial role in furthering their mission of guiding Indigenous youth towards successful futures. The Open Call saw 6,353 applications, with award amounts ultimately increased due to the exceptional quality of projects presented.
More details about the award and future plans for Project Venture can be found on their official website and through official announcements from Yield Giving and Lever for Change, the latter managing the selection and award process.
