Pure Lithium Secures $15 Million in Series A Funding From Oxy Low Carbon Ventures

Pure Lithium, a Boston-based company pioneering in lithium metal battery technology, has successfully secured a $15 million investment from Oxy Low Carbon Ventures (OLCV), a subsidiary of Occidental Petroleum focused on low-carbon technologies. This funding marks the lead investment in Pure Lithium's Series A equity financing, with potential to double to $30 million. The investment is aimed at advancing the company's innovative Brine to Battery™ technology, which simplifies the production of lithium metal anodes from aqueous sources into a single step, promising to revolutionize lithium metal battery performance by achieving over 800 charge and discharge cycles while maintaining 97% capacity.

Emilie Bodoin, Founder and CEO of Pure Lithium, emphasized the alignment of OLCV's strategic vision with Pure Lithium’s goal to commercialize lithium metal batteries through vertical integration. The funding will expedite the development and commercialization of their technology. Additionally, Pure Lithium plans to leverage the expertise of OLCV, especially in electrochemical processing, to upscale their technology efficiently. OLCV's investment is seen as a significant endorsement of Pure Lithium's groundbreaking approach to lithium metal battery production, with Dr. Robert L. Zeller III of OLCV expressing enthusiasm for supporting such transformative technology.
