Renault Group Appoints Philippe Krief as Chief Technology Officer
Starting September 1, 2024, Philippe Krief will take on the role of Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Renault Group, succeeding Gilles Le Borgne. Krief aims to lead Renault into a future of innovation, amidst significant changes in the automotive industry.
Krief will remain CEO of Alpine, where he has driven the brand's recent development of the A290 and the upcoming GT crossover. He will now also oversee all engineering activities and resources at Renault Group, reporting directly to CEO Luca de Meo. His track record includes significant roles at Ferrari, Fiat, and Michelin.
As CTO, his mission is to pioneer the creation of the next generation of "intelligent" vehicles faster than competitors. Under his leadership, Alpine has ventured into 100% electric and hydrogen-powered vehicles, showcasing technologies like the Alpenglow Hy4 hydrogen prototype.
CEO Luca de Meo praised outgoing CTO Gilles Le Borgne for his role in Renault's rapid turnaround. De Meo expressed confidence that Krief's experience would continue to drive Renault forward against global competition.
