Opening of First ReFarmUnit Marks a Milestone for REPLOID Group AG
REPLOID Group AG celebrated the launch of the first ReFarmUnit in Burghausen, Bavaria. Operated by Steinberger ReFarmUnit GmbH, this facility processes 40 metric tons of organic residues daily. These are converted by black soldier fly larvae into animal protein, fat, and organic fertilizer.
The event featured key figures such as Hubert Aiwanger, Bavarian State Minister for Economic Affairs, and Philip Pauer, CEO of REPLOID. The ReFarmUnit is modular and sources feedstock locally. It is supported by Bavaria's bioeconomy strategy, highlighting sustainable actions and a circular economy.
Minister Aiwanger emphasized the benefits of converting food waste into valuable resources, as did Upper Austria's Regional Minister Michaela Langer-Weninger. They see this project as combining traditional agricultural expertise with modern technology.
