Rockland Resources Unearths Historical Gold Mine Data in Red Lake, Ontario
Rockland Resources Ltd. has announced the discovery of historical data from drill hole operations conducted in the 1930s at its fully owned Cole Gold Mines Property in northwestern Ontario's Red Lake gold district. This recently unearthed drill hole data, specifically from Hole DDH-12 located southwest of the historical underground exploration site, reveals significant findings including over 3.5 meters of vein quartz containing gold, indicating the potential for a major ore occurrence.
The significance of these findings was first documented in a 1953 report by Mining Engineer Wilfred P. Mackle, highlighting a particular fold pattern similar to that found in major deposits in the region. This discovery, along with previous underground exploration results indicating multiple gold-bearing zones, positions the Cole Gold Mines project as a site with considerable exploration potential. Interestingly, limited drilling by Rockland in 2021 couldn’t explore this intercept due to restrictions and natural calamities. Rockland CEO Mike England expressed optimism about the findings impacting the project's future positively.
While interpreting these historical estimates, Rockland Resources advises caution as they do not conform to current NI 43-101 standards. Simultaneously, the company is conducting a compilation of historical geophysical and geological data for its Pipestone North property, planning for upcoming summer field programs alongside the Cole Gold Mines property.
