Sagebrush Apartments Mark New Era of Affordable Housing in Fort Lupton, CO
Fort Lupton celebrated the inauguration of its first new affordable housing development in over a decade with the opening of Sagebrush Apartments on April 24, 2024. Local dignitaries, including Mayor Zo Hubbard, and executives from The Michaels Organization, attended the ribbon-cutting event for this pivotal community project.
Sagebrush Apartments introduce 72 units spread over two buildings, featuring a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom homes, all qualifying as 100% affordable under the Low Income Housing Tax Credit system. Income Averaging across these properties allows individuals from 30% to 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI) to afford housing.
This $25 million project was brought to fruition with contributions from multiple stakeholders including the Colorado Housing Finance Agency and local government bodies. Amenities for the residents include a clubhouse, fitness center, pet park, and in-unit laundry.
The development is notable not only for its immediate impact but also as part of a larger 12-acre redevelopment effort in Fort Lupton aimed at revitalizing the area and boosting local business. Environmental sustainability was also a key consideration, with the apartments being certified as an Enterprise Green Community.
