Savencia Cheese USA Voluntarily Recalls Select Cheeses Due to Listeria Risk
Savencia Cheese USA has announced a voluntary recall of several soft ripened cheese products produced at its Lena facility. The recall is due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes, which poses severe health risks, particularly to vulnerable populations like young children and the elderly. For pregnant women, the infection can lead to miscarriages or stillbirths. No illnesses have been reported so far.
The products affected include Aldi Emporium Selection Brie, La Bonne Vie Brie and Camembert, Supreme Oval, Industrial Brie, and Market Basket Brie. Each has specific identifying details such as the best buy dates and UPC codes for verification. Distribution of these products was regionally limited, and retailers have been notified to remove them from shelves.
The recall follows routine testing that indicated potential contamination from processing equipment. Savencia is working with the FDA to ensure consumer safety. Customers are advised to return any purchased affected products for a refund and can contact Savencia for further inquiries.
