SFC Energy Engages in Ghanaian Hydrogen Fuel Cell Project
SFC Energy AG has announced its participation in a pilot project in Tema, Ghana, under the program Export Initiative Environmental Protection. This initiative, named GH2GH, explores the use of green hydrogen for decentralized energy systems in Sub-Saharan Africa. The project includes implementing off-grid solutions using SFC's EFOY Hydrogen 2.5 fuel cells.
This collaboration, involving Bochum University of Applied Sciences and Green Power Brains, aims to serve the Don Bosco Solar & Renewable Energy Centre. The center uses intelligent control systems to optimize a mini-grid with long runtimes and low installed power. Key features include an electrolysis system with a 20 kW capacity and SFC's fuel cells, achieving significant energy storage in hydrogen form.
The initiative responds to the region's electricity scarcity, providing educational and technological advancement opportunities. Funded by the BMUV, it represents a strategic effort to enhance renewable energy access through German GreenTech expertise.
