Signing of a collaboration agreement between the Pekuakamiulnuatsh First Nation and First Phosphate

On April 10, 2024, First Phosphate Corp. and the Pekuakamiulnuatsh First Nation have formalized a key collaboration agreement for the development of a phosphate mine project and a lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) cathode active material plant in the Saguenay-Lac region. Saint-Jean, Quebec. This alliance, materialized in the presence of major figures from both parties, aims to establish solid foundations in terms of employment opportunities, environmental protection and community engagement.

The agreement also envisages financial participation from the First Nation and the integration of rare igneous rock phosphate into the classification of critical materials for the Canadian federal government. Through this collaboration, First Phosphate is committed to supporting Ilnu culture and language, in part through the issuance of shares to the dedicated ilnu-aitun and Nelueun funds. This agreement represents a significant step in respecting the ancestral rights of First Nations while contributing to the industrial and technological development of the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region.
