SK tes Opens Cutting-Edge Battery Recycling Facility in the Netherlands to Meet Surging Demand in Electric Vehicle Market

SK tes, a global leader in battery recycling, has inaugurated a state-of-the-art facility in Rotterdam, Netherlands. This development aligns with SK tes' strategy to establish a global network of sustainable battery recycling solutions, critical for the rapidly expanding electric vehicle (EV) market.

The Rotterdam facility, spanning 10,000 square meters with plans for expansion, can process up to 10,000 tonnes of material annually. Utilizing advanced inert crushing and vacuum drying processes, the plant safely recycles lithium and EV batteries.

Thomas Holberg, Chief Operating Officer at SK tes, emphasized the company's commitment to customer needs and sustainability. The facility will recover crucial raw materials like lithium, cobalt, and nickel, feeding them back into the battery supply chain.

Western Europe is a key player in the global EV battery industry. SK tes plans to expand its recycling capabilities in Europe and recently completed an EV battery plant in Yancheng, China. The strategic location in Rotterdam offers logistical advantages and aligns with the Port of Rotterdam's sustainability goals.
