Skyborn Advances Gennaker Offshore Wind Project with Turbine Supply Agreement
Skyborn Renewables has signed a new Master Supply Agreement with Siemens Gamesa for the delivery of 63 SG 14-236 DD wind turbines, each with a capacity of up to 15 MW. This update replaces a previous agreement for 103 smaller turbines. The upgrade aligns with the ongoing progress of the Gennaker offshore wind project, including nearing completion of the main soil investigation and signing a foundation design contract.
This development is significant for Skyborn's Gennaker project, set to add 945 MW to Germany's clean energy capacity. The project, located north of the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula, will become the most powerful offshore wind farm in the German Baltic Sea.
Patrick Lammers, CEO of Skyborn, emphasizes that the agreement is crucial for project planning amid current supply chain constraints. Offshore construction is expected to begin in 2027, advancing Germany's climate goals and supporting the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania region's energy priorities.
