In mid-September, Eiffage announced that Smulders, its Belgian subsidiary, secured contracts worth over €1 billion in 2024. This includes an EPC contract from Chantiers de l’Atlantique on behalf of RTE to manufacture foundations for electrical substations at the Centre Manche 1 and Centre Manche 2 offshore wind farms in Normandy.

The jacket structures, weighing approximately 7,000 tonnes each, will support substations with a capacity of 1.25 GW. Construction will commence in 2026 at Smulders’ Belgian sites, with final assembly in Vlissingen, Netherlands. Completion is expected in 2029 for Centre Manche 1 and 2030 for Centre Manche 2.

This project solidifies Smulders’ status as a leader in metal structures for offshore wind, aligning with Eiffage's goals in renewable energy development in France.
