SMX Launches National Plastics Passport with A*STAR

SMX, alongside Singapore's A*STAR, has launched the world's first national plastics passport, marking a significant shift in the recycling sector. This initiative aims to address systemic flaws in global recycling efforts, which have traditionally lacked uniformity and verifiability, leading to inconsistent recycling practices worldwide. The plastics passport, using molecular markers from SMX, ensures traceability and authenticity throughout the lifecycle of plastics.

This innovation expands recycling beyond typical consumer packaging to include industrial plastics, potentially transforming recycling into a more integral part of the supply chain. Singapore, known for setting international standards, is the first to adopt this model, paving the way for adoption across ASEAN. This could generate significant economic value, facilitating a transparent circular economy.
