South Star Battery Metals Announces Initial Sale from Santa Cruz Graphite Mine
South Star Battery Metals Corp. recently finalized a binding sales agreement for purchasing 100 tonnes of graphite concentrate from its Santa Cruz Graphite Mine in Brazil. The shipment, expected in Q3 2024, will be transported in five industry-standard intermodal ISO 20-foot shipping containers. This sale marks a significant milestone as the company prepares for commercial production.
The undisclosed American industrial graphite customer has shown interest in regular purchases pending positive application-specific test results. Meanwhile, another major U.S. graphite company has successfully tested and qualified Santa Cruz graphite for green-energy applications. South Star is actively engaging with global graphite end-users for potential offtake agreements.
Construction of the Phase-1 Plant at Santa Cruz is scheduled to finish in June 2024, with commercial production set for August. Furthermore, environmental permits for the expansion phases at Santa Cruz have been approved, positioning South Star to increase operations as demand escalates.
